I hate DST and I hate that we almost got rid of it, then covid happened and nobody gave a shit about smaller annoyances. Now we'll probably never get another chance.
I hate it so much that this year I'm using a day of vacation time to stay home from work just to avoid going to work on the first weekday after the start of DST.
For me it feels like yet one more "Screw you" from those in power. It would be so easy to get rid of something that annoys and inconveniences us, and they can't even be bothered to give us this one crumb of comfort. They don't give a shit. Those who do give a shit don't have the ability to do anything.
Well, since the Sunshine Protection Act did get as far as passing the Senate before the bill stalled, it does go to show that some of those elected officials did favor it, just not enough of them.
Oh, sure, there are many folks in government who do actually want to help and protect people. I was lumping all the bad guys, basically, into the complaint about 'those in power.' Sometimes I feel like those who want to help don't really have much power, but I acknowledge that is not really accurate.
Today I drove my niece to yet another university, and since it was the time switch me getting up at 7:15 am for it was actually me getting up at 6:15 and I felt that. At least it was sunny instead of overcast.
