Date: 2017-08-03 04:58 am (UTC)I was introduced to Bhangra through fan vids, oddly enough--someone made a really good Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon vid to "Mundian To Bach Ke." I loved the song so much I made a Pandora station and have listened happily ever since. :-)

Date: 2017-08-07 12:40 am (UTC)It was on the Vividcon 2003 DVD. I seem to recall it was difficult to navigate, so I dubbed my favorite vids off onto a videotape to make them easier to watch, and then digitized them a while back. (I don't really have an easy way to rip vids from DVD. Yet. [grin])
So bear in mind, this is NOT as crisp and clean as the original, but it's still gorgeous. The clips seem to track with the music rather than with the words, and there are several moments that just make me stare in admiration. But I don't wanna spoil you. ;-)

Enjoy! I'd love to hear what you think of it.
Also ... and this may be a silly question whose answer is "Of course!" - but just in case not - have you seen the Starsky & Hutch vid to "The Real Slim Shady"? (A HREF="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YegJjlfqGXE" target="blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YegJjlfqGXE) Let's just say there are some cameo appearances you would appreciate.

Date: 2017-08-07 03:56 pm (UTC)FYI, Absinthe = Astolat + Hafital. (It was briefly common for co-vidders to adopt a new pseudonym but also super confusing. E.g. Luminosity + her daughter = The Shimmer Twins. I once had a whole conversation with someone thinking that we must be talking about two different vids to Southwest Voodoo).
The vid is posted on AO3 https://archiveofourown.org/works/4492113

I'm glad to hear it was a "thing." When I was compiling a 1992 California Crew playlist (I've been digitizing old tapes), I ran into familiar names like "Icy Calm," new ones like "Buffalo Leg Scrapers," and puzzling ones like "Icy Leg Scrapers"! I figured that must be a portmanteau because they were working together--glad to have that practice confirmed!
But my goodness, doing it with a completely different pseud is seriously confusing.

Definitely worth watching to the very, very end.

Date: 2017-08-04 07:25 pm (UTC)I'm out of town for the weekend, but when I get back I'll check on that vid. If it's not online, I can upload a copy from my computer. I can't remember who the vidder was, but it's an amazing vid.
