For many years Escapade has been a con I never missed. I'm missing it this year and a lot of other "usual attendees" are also missing it this year. January 2025 is just a tough time for con attendance this year and that is reflected in Escapade putting out a call to bolster this year's attendance or to help the con in other ways.

The 18th Annual All-Fandoms Holiday of More Joy Day will be January 10th, 2025.
What is More Joy Day? In short it's this:
In 2008, in the interest of spreading more joy,sdwolfpup proposed that on a designated day in early January we each engage in one or more acts, either online or in physical space (or both!), which bring joy to another person, in the hopes that that person will spread that joy further, and exponentially onward.
This act can be as simple as leaving a comment on a fanwork to as complicated as planting a tree in someone's honor and sharing a photo of it and why you chose that person.

How it works: within the year make fifty posts about topics related to fandom. You may set any theme(s) you wish or pick random topics for each post. You don't have to sign up to participate, but signing up will help spread the word about this challenge and also will call more attention to your posts.
Primary posting will run January 1 -- December 31, 2025. With 50 posts, it fits neatly into a year with 2 weeks to spare. This is not the right time for me to sign up for an exchange, but I am still pimping this exchange because I <3 so much it being a thing: "Jews in Space"! It's a fanworks exchange for Jewish characters in science fiction: canon Jews, headcanon Jews, original characters, converts to Judaism, crypto Jews, religious believers or atheists, whatever. It's called threeforthememories and its profile describes it thus: "3 for the Memories is an annual community opening on January 3 and running until January 24. Its purpose is to share photos that each member has taken during the prior year. This might be the 3 photos that they feel best encapsulate their year, or are simply the ones they most wish to share by whichever criteria they choose. Anyone can participate by just joining the community."
I won't be participating in this round because I didn't take any photos in 2022, but I will be looking at and enjoying the photos posted there.
