Today I took my mail-in ballot to my local City Hall and put it in the official and guarded ballot drop-box. I had to stand in line just to drop off the ballot, but it was a short line...whereas the line for early in-person voting went 3/4ths of the way around the whole building. Inspiring to see so many citizens taking their civic responsibility so seriously.
And in honor of having voted today, two videos by social-justice songwriter-singer Roy Zimmerman of whom I am a big fan -- I've even contributed money to the cause of keeping him writing and singing for social justice (and he sent me a handwritten thank-you note via postal mail).

The numbers are looking good. As of today, 30% of the 2016 voter turnout has already voted. I'm hoping that stays high and we end up with a much higher voter turnout than four years ago. (Though it's possible that people are just shifting to earlier voting and it may slow down as we get closer to election day.)
I'm constantly vacillating between optimistic hope and cynical pessimism.
