FRTDNEATJ I'm not currently doing exchanges, but I am so charmed by this one that I'm still gonna post about it. [personal profile] nuh_s runs this Jews in Space Flash Exchange which is now in its second round.

Full details are on the collection's AO3 profile page. Nominations and sign-ups close on Tuesday, November 26 at 11:00 PM EST.

Speaking of Jews in space, here's a photo of a pin that I own, and if you don't already know what it references, try doing a search on the phrase Marjorie Taylor Greene AND Jewish Space Lasers:

I was going to write a detailed post about [personal profile] galerian_ash and the not-stressful fanworks challenges they frequently run, but since [personal profile] corvidology has written such a detailed post already, I'm going to point all y'all there. Click here for info about the "Event Central" challenge and the "Be The First" challenge (sign-ups currently open for the "Event Central" challenge).

These are two of my faves! Hope to see you participating with me!

September 21 is considered to be Ray Vecchio's birthday and is celebrated annually by due South fandom as "Ray Vecchio Day". I did write a RayV-centric fic on September 21, but I was away from home at the Con*Strict Slashcon at the time and it's taken me a little while after returning home to get back up to speed about posting for Fannish Fifty.

Here's what I wrote and posted on September 21 for "Ray Vecchio Day":

Thank you kindly to the following fen for sending postal mail to me in August: [personal profile] elayna for a second "Husky Dogs of Alaska" postcard and [personal profile] james for the "August is National Crayon Month" postcard done IN CRAYON.
ride_4ever: (Fandom Porn People)

The Challenge: On September 1st, post something porny to your journal or favorite archive. This can be fic, art, icons, meta, your favorite porny recs, a dirty limerick, etc cetera. Then share that porniness by posting links at "Bring Back the Porn" on DW . Note that this fest only collects links: you must host your porny contribution elsewhere and put just the link on the fest page.

All fandoms and also original work are welcome. All varieties of porn from merely implied to very explicit, from vanilla to kinky, anything goes as long as there is some sort of smut factor.

See the BBTP comm profile page for more details.

Special note to dSC6D fen: I have arranged for due South and for Canadian Six Degrees to be in the fest's tagset, so get over to this fest and "due" it!

The RCW 139 Ficlets Collection is in a format inspired by the ubiquitous license plate number in due South. The format: write a 139-word 3-paragraph fic where the first paragraph starts with "R," the second paragraph starts with "C," and the third paragraph starts with "W". The collection is on AO3 -- open, unmoderated, and no deadline. Write and post your fic for due South or for any of the Canadian Six Degrees fandoms!

[personal profile] squidgiepdx has been showing fandom the love for 30 years (he founded Squidge.Org in 1994 to provide both website hosting and mailing lists for fandom and in 2020 he created the SquidgeWorld Archive) and I'm here to say let's have fandom show some love back with a successful fundraiser. (And I'm putting my money where my mouth is: I donated $100.00.)

It was with amazement and delight that I learned my beloved Canadian band -- The Barenaked Ladies -- was going to be performing 5 miles (or 8 km if you're Canadian) from my home in the Midwestern U.S. I had never seen them perform live, always wanted to...and haven't even gone to ANY concerts since the pandemic. (The last two live concerts I did attend before the pandemic were also Canadian, which I'm sure surprises no one.) I got online at the ticket-ordering website about an hour before it opened, wanting to be right at the front of that virtual ticket line. I got a ticket for myself and a ticket for my fanpair...and the concert completely sold out within the first hour of ticket sales.

Here's a clip from that concert:

(And TYK to [personal profile] desireearmfeldt for having pimped me into BNL fandom all those years ago.)

Last week I met IRL for the first time [personal profile] oldtoadwoman who I know from the Firewhiskey Fic comm. We met at a restaurant for dinner, followed by dessert at an ice cream parlor. I already knew her to be extremely artistic and literate, and with her having done fic and art in several shared fandoms, but it was only meeting her in person that I was able to experience how charming she is, a lively conversationalist with a depth and breadth of life experiences.

Local fannish meetups FTW!

Thank you kindly to the following fen for sending postal mail to me February, March, April, May: [personal profile] dine, [personal profile] elayna, [personal profile] james, [personal profile] minoanmiss, and redheadaholic..

An additional shout-out for [personal profile] elayna for the postcard message specific to my primary and forever fandom -- due South -- when she wrote: "I think that if Fraser were ever a superhero, his weapon would be his politeness. It would freeze criminals in their tracks! But what would be his Kryptonite?"

(I already told elayna -- in a postcard back to her -- what is my answer to the Kryptonite question. Readers here, you are encouraged to leave in comments below what you think would be the answer to the Fraser's Kryptonite question. And I'm curious to see if any of your answers will match mine.)
