It was a coincidence (or maybe not? Maybe subconsciously this spurred me) but I dug up and posted an unfinished fic from 16 years ago that I will never finish, but I still have a soft spot for. Even if nobody reads it, it was nice to read it again myself!

"Viva's Fic Amnesty Collection on AO3"? Tell me about you creating a collection titled this way and how you decide which fics to put in that collection.

Well I didn't really want to call them orphaned fics. (Or "euthanized bunnies" which I also saw once and which threw me for a loop!)

I have dozens of years-long unfinished fics and most of them will never see the light of day. But there's two reactions I have when I remember or discover an old unfinished fic.

"Oh, THAT fic." (Derogatory)

"Oh, THAT fic!" (Laudatory)

So basically if I have the second reaction, and also the self-awareness to admit that I will never finish it, I guess that means it's a candidate to eventually be posted like this. I only have two abandoned fics posted, maybe one more day more will be posted when the spirit moves me!

TYK for the response. At some point I'm gonna round up my unfinished-and-don't-expect-to-finish fics and -- inspired by you -- make a collection of them (and -- eeek! -- NOT going to call them "euthanized bunnies" which is clever but horrifying).

Based on being inspired by how you've collected your unfinished and probably won't finish fics on AO3, I have created a collection that I'm calling "Ride's Hi Ho Hiatus Collection".

Well I guess I already contributed, technically... that IFD prompted "ten"/dsc6d amnesty prompted snippet.

I'd like to read fic (and also continue my fanworks bingo)... I just haven't had a lot of time. For reasons. You know.

I have, however, had a dS/Hannibal-free form AU simmering on the back burner of my mind. Though I don't think I have what it takes to finish any of my (long unfinished) WIPs in various fandoms (mostly, though not exclusively, dsc6d)... I think I might try doing it as a series of snippets. Of course it will be too late for IFD... But it'll be _something_. And take my mind off everything else
. For a little while anyway.
