My dear, I just saw you comment on the AO3 post by werpiper and I did not realize that you also knew Rubynye— I didn't realize we shared this grief.

I only got to meet her IRL one time (at a con) but we interacted regularly via DW, AO3, and also personal postal mail. I am not past the part of the grief process where I am quick to tears when I think of her presence gone from us.

I am comforted to hear that it's not just me. I feel a bit awkward being quick to tears as well, and it's been tricky to explain to folks IRL but a connection is a connection. She touched all of our lives, and that leaves a hole. Shared grief, indeed.

This is fucking tragic. COVID is so insidious. I am so sorry for your loss.

A tragedy and a shock...many people, including myself, did not know about the deadliness of asymptomatic COVID.

Yeah, those dangers of asymptomatic COVID are - as far as we know - rare but can be lethal. But as she points out, because many deaths that are from COVID aren't reported as caused by COVID, at least in terms of cause of death - we can't really know how rare (or not rare) they actually are.
