Blood Ties, yes! Who recced this to me?

Someone in my DW Circle or my LJ Flist recced the Canadian TV show Blood Ties to me. Now I've watched it and I want to comment to them...and I thought I saved their rec to "memories" but I didn't. If that reccer reads this, please LMK. (Also, anyone who wants to comment to me about this show, feel free to do so.)

Yes, that's the one! Old show, but new to me ! Can you tell me if the novels make good on what I thought was a cliffhanger-ending to the show?

Also, this summer in Toronto at the RCW 139 con I'm going to have a chance to meet Christina (Vicky on Blood Ties) Cox. *flails*

tbh, it's been so long since I saw the show and even longer since I read the books so... Erm... yeah, I don't really remember? I'm guessing so because, as I remember, the show got cancelled.

I saw Kyle Schmid in something else recently and he's ageing really, really well. :D

I think the fandom writes mostly Henry/Mike.

I looked at some recent pics of Kyle Schmid a few days ago and actually I think he's even better looking now than he looked as a younger hottie.

I haven't rewatched the second season, so I don't remember the cliffhanger. I'll get it before to long and refresh my memory. :D The books are pretty good, and as a bonus, they have Tony--he's an openly gay character, he and Henry have a mutually beneficial relationship, and he later gets his own series of books called the Smoke series. They should be easy to find in any used book shop with a decent sci-fi/fantasy section.

Tanya Huff's books are even easier to find than going to a bookstore. I can get all of them through my local library. (And I'm looking forward to reading where the character Tony is included.)

Double and triple yay for using the library! I don't know why I was thinking used book stores--I think that's my own tendency to hoard things showing through. :D

Ah, don't misunderstand me about going to used book stores (and yes, I am a book-hoarder, too) -- it's just that at the used book store I like to let random books find me rather than going there to look for specific books. When it comes to specific books I get them at the library (which also is super-convenient for me since I'm a librarian at a public library and therefore I am at the library five days a week.

I've never seen Blood Ties but I'm a fan of hers from Better than Chocolate and Nikki and Nora. I loved the Enchantment Emporium and really need to read the other two in the series.

I've seen those listed in her filmography but haven't gotten hold of them yet. Do you rec them strongly enough for me to buy them? (I already checked the local library system for them, and there's only one copy of Better than Chocolate, so with only one copy that library won't interlibrary loan it, and I couldn't find any copies of Nikki and Nora.)

If you find them super cheap somewhere and you're a big fan of hers, sure. They were fine but not stand out quality under normal circumstances but it was and to some extent still is so hard to find lgbtq content that's not heavy or depressing that they were both enjoyable on that level.
