Only one week left to register for the RCW 139 due South 25th Anniversary Convention! Attending memberships and non-attending supporter memberships will only continue to be available until the last day of this month. Check it out at the RCW 139 website.

It only occurred to me today that this is like a real thing I could maybe go to... I'm finding the site kinda tricky to find info on. Do you happen know what the code is for the special rate at the hotel (assuming it's at the same hotel) and/or have info on cheaper places to stay in the same general area?

I've been thinking about when we hung out together at the previous RCW 139 and wondering if you would be attending this one!

I've told Stephane (he's the head of the concomm) to expect an email from you for help with navigating the con site to get registered and for help with the con hotel reservation (it's not the same hotel as last time) or with other lodging options. Email him at info@rcw139.org and say "Shaynie told me to contact you".

This will be my third RCW 139. I missed the 2010 one because it was 2011 when I found fandom community, so the 2012 con was my first opportunity.

Are there any fancons that you have attended? I do also attend some multifandom ones, but I'm always pimping dS at those.

See the RCW 139 logo in my icon? I have that tattooed on my arm.

There are some fancons I go to I guess? I was able to go to Con-txt and Rangerstop (for Power Rangers fans, though that's part corporate) for the first time last year, and will be heading to Connexions for the first time this year. I attended the Generic Magic Festival (ala Roanake VA's Harry Potter Fest) twice, and I'm currently at Escape Velocity, which is hosted by the museum of sci-fi, right down the road from Balticon.

I lurked in fandom for a long time, and it's only been recently (~the last 2-3 years or so) that I've been able to go to fandom cons (grad school was time consuming, to say the least).

We missed each other by one Con.TXT -- I was at the one right before the one you attended (and I'm registered for Con.TXT 2020). I was at the previous ConneXions but I'm missing this one because it's too close in time for me to attend when I'm attending Con*Strict and RCW 139.

Then it sounds like the next/first time we might meet facd to face- barring any changes- would be at Con.txt 2020! Which will be awesome I'm sure ^^

Can't wait! I really hope my new job lets me take Friday off... I haven't asked yet, because it's my first week and it seems tacky to ask for time off so soon, but when I do, I'll let you know the outcome, so we can meet up.
