Well, as anyone can see, I didn't get any late-posted fic up before today's Firewhiskey Fic Challenge. And as many can't see unless you are in the FWF comm, here's what happened: my laptop was in the repair shop all week because I was having crash dumps and artifacts. I was so worried about not getting it back in time for FWF, but I got it back yesterday, so I thought all was cool. Then when I got it home I discovered that the repair tech had only done a partial job and that there was still something wrong with it so I took it back today and hung around the vicinity of the repair place for many hours, dreading the thought that if they didn't get it right I would be losing over a decade of fannish stuff, vids and docs and fanart. Now I gotta say THANK FUCK it's all fixed with everything saved and the laptop functioning.

*scampers off to start drinking and writing for FWF*

Ooooooh, I am so glad you got it back!

Once you're able, I have to suggest an external hard drive, if you don't have one already! I back my stuff up just in case, and it keeps me from worrying about another hard drive crash (which happened with two laptops ago) or a meltdown (the laptop before this one). Excellent investments!

I do have an external hard drive. I've used one with every laptop I've ever owned. There was a possible problem even with the external hard drive but things did work out okay.

And thank you kindly for the drunk!writing encouragement. Right now I'm just waving carrots around trying to attract a plotbunny.
